Commander's Brief

Business ideas, jobs for veterans, and other cool stuff for ex-military.

Can you all take a quick sec and just answer this poll for me? I would like to know how to bring you the most value from this newsletter.

Thanks for everyone who came into the Shift Group showing Wednesday night.

Here is the TLDR from what we discussed:

  • Veterans and athletes alike have transition struggles that Shift tries to address

  • They are not selling snake oil and are not a scam. They are the real deal and have the results to prove it.

  • Shift Group is a recruitment company. Employers pay them for access to their database and then if you get hired from it.

  • Their jobs are mostly sales. Why? JR (the founder) is a sales guy. He built huge sales teams and was a sales exec at a company that sold for $2 billion. Who were his favorite salespeople to hire? Veterans and athletes. He has seen veterans do great in sales and knows they can crush it in these roles. Sales is also one of the fastest ways to start making big money.

We will host more of these in the future, so stay tuned.

Veteran Business of the Week

A few years ago, I had Chase Hobby on the show to talk about business, VRB Labs.

The Drop №. 69 with Chase Hobby – VRB Labs

Chase is a former aviator and started VRB Labs with another veteran, Evan Seale (former Ranger).

VRB Labs sells a variety of CBD products and is geared toward people who are hard-charging at work and in life.

They are solid dudes, so if you are looking for something to help with sleep or focus, give them a visit.

Separately, I recently launched a new newsletter, Tech Stacks. I share the technology and software founders and entrepreneurs use to run their businesses. One of my recent posts is What Tech Does The Guy With 20+ Projects Use to Build?

Resource of The Week

Do you like working with your hands? Using a shovel to dig a hole or swinging a sledgehammer?

I know I do.

Then go check out Team Rubicon. It’s a really great way to help people in a really tough spot, as they usually come in after a natural disaster.

But you can also connect with opportunities locally. I once spent an afternoon tearing down a shed and breaking apart a concrete pad on a diabaled veteran’s home with Team Rubicon.

Its fun, great community, and you are doing good work.

Business Idea

You remember that idea I had about writing investor updates?

Well, I used an AI app builder and made a simple product to do it.

You can see a demo of it here.

If you are wondering, I cannot write a single line of code.

This was all done with AI.

Go think of something cool and try to build it. I used a product called Databutton and loved it.

From the Archives

Go crush it,

Mark
